Don’t Lose Him

Missed but not missing
You’re here but not aware
Looking but not seeing
Present but you’re not there

So many signs around you
So many things not seen
Listen to the silence
And you’ll wonder where you’ve been

Love is a thing
When untended it dies
And all that is left
Is suffering and lies

Tend your garden
And love while you can
Hopefully you’ll be able
To keep your man

Life Thoughts

And so it goes
In this old weary world
The lives in which we are hurled

And nobody know
The proper way out
Everyone’s filled with doubt

But sing our song
As best as we may
Doing our jobs for pay

Right or wrong
We do or best
And in the end finding the rest

They’ve been alongside you the whole time doing the same thing as you.

Copy and Paste Society

A copy and paste society
Where rarely an original is found
From looks and clothing to sound

Filled with all kinds of impropriety
Plagiarized thought and more
For sale by the dozen in the store

A copy and paste society
Where your identity is totally lost
All originality is tossed

Gone is all variety
Now just status and lust
For all it’s a must

Truth lies hidden
Nothing is sacred
And lies are laid bare and naked

Nothing’s forbidden
In this hedonist life
Everywhere tragedy cuts like a knife

But such is the way
In this hedonist land
Too many things in demand

They do what they may
With no reason or thought
Seeming to do what they ought not

ɸ

A voiceless bilabial fricative
A sound made by lips
Some languages use it
When telling naughty quips

Not totally silent
And never too violent
This sound made to endure

Sometimes it’s happy
Too odd to be sappy
For proper use to ensure

From Ainu to Turkmen
You’ll find its wide use
Use it with care
And prevent its abuse

I Didn’t Open Facebook

I didn’t open Facebook
And missed your note today
And the updates to the wall
And requests for games to play

So many important things are there
Posted all around
And my poor Farmville garden
Is not looking very sound

I didn’t open Facebook
A sorry mess am I
All the things that were posted for me
Make me want to cry

And I didn’t post my status
As I know I should
I’d update it right away
If I only could

I didn’t open Facebook
My network connection is down
To think of the things I am missing
Gives me a pouting frown

I’ll open Facebook
Just as soon as I can
Read all messages and posts
At least that is my plan

I didn’t open Facebook
I hope you’ll forgive me this time
To make you feel much better
I decided to write you this rhyme

Misery and Hope

Thorns cover
The stems of a rose
A bramble misery
Where ever it grows

But when the time is right
It buds and blooms
Giving hope
To countless rooms

From misery’s thorns
Comes hope and light
Blossoms of love
To make things right

From the darkest day
And the deepest night
The rose reminds us
To hope and delight

No matter the misery
No matter the pain
Keep hope to heart
And it won’t be in vain

Purple Kitties

Purple kitties dance
Out among the trees
And sing their yowling songs
While chasing honey bees

They climb to tipsy tops
To see what is there
And lick their pretty fur
To wash their pretty hair

And dream of flying down
But their stuck up in that tree
Purple little kitties
Don’t know how that this could be

Pickles Again

How many pickles
Do we get ourselves in
Finding ourselves
In battles we can’t win

How do we get here
Or find our way out
Sometimes it seems
To fill me with doubt

That this fun that we have
Is really not good
And that we should be doing
What we know that we should

But here we are
In this pickle again
But I’m glad I’m in it
With my very best friend

Take It Slowly

The slow burner
Stews us good
While the fast burner burns

The slow burner
Cooks as it should
Taking its time in turns

Patience is all you need for it
To make it turn out right
Too quickly and you’ll come to see
Your burn out fast tonight

Take it slowly
As you can
And paradise you’ll see

Take it slowly
Is the plan
When spending time with me

The Company Way

Crisscross lines
On ceilings and floors
Noticeably missing
From the doors

And the glowing light patterns
Of the lights above
Hold no emotion
Not hate or love

For this is a work place
Logical, clean
We need no emotion
We want no extreme

A well-ordered place
In a well-ordered way
Helps to create
A well-ordered day

And that is the way
The company way
Live here and die
That’s all we can say

A Night Of Ecstasy

Lips tied
Tongues tangled
Rocking hot
Bodies mangled

Legs and arms
In sweet full motion
Touching while covered
In sweat and lotion

Blankets missing
Fall on the floor
Gasping, breathing
Begging for more

A night to remember
A night to forget
Passions filled
Desires met

And in the darkness of the night
When we lay side by side
May comfort lies next to me
With a joy we can’t hide

Blue Skies and Beaches

Blue skies forever
With nary a cloud to be seen
Sun drenched beaches
White washed clean

Rolling waves
That peaceful sound
Here no stress
Or worry is found

By the setting sun
We’ll be holding hands
And kissing each other
As the time demands

In this far away place
Where I am here with you
Pleasures are many
And stresses are few

We dance into the night
While our beating hearts take flight
Under sheets of snowy white
And try as we might

We are lost within the dream

Stay Away

Contagious
Outrageous
Stay away and don’t
Plague us

Your awkward ways are out
So don’t you scream or shout
I haven’t got a doubt
That you need to stay away

You’re viral in extreme
Awkward and so mean
Your mouth is not so clean
You’re drinking Kerosene

Your awkward ways are out
So don’t you scream or shout
I haven’t got a doubt
That you need to stay away

Unbelievable its true
I can’t believe it’s you
You make me want to spew
If you only knew

Your awkward ways are out
So don’t you scream or shout
I haven’t got a doubt
That you need to stay away

Wishing You Happiness

Wishing you happiness of all kinds
As well as one that reminds
Of the friends who count you as dear

Wishing you all kind of joy
That builds you up and doesn’t destroy
Or come with any fear

Wishing you all kind of love
From here to high above
With hugs so sweet from friends you meet

Wishing you happy days
That comes in many ways
And brings you that special treat

So you know you are loved by your friends.

The Dreaming Daisy

The lazy crazy daisy
Sat sitting in the sun
Looking at the clear blue sky
And dreaming just for fun

Feeling how her petals felt
And feeling roots so deep
She stood there being quiet
You couldn’t hear a peep

When the sun went down and the moon came up
She dreamed a little more
This lazy crazy daisy
Was a silly dreaming bore

And into the mouth of hell
A sad beautiful tribute
For those who tried but fell

But great is their joy
With the sight of a single butterfly
That gives hope to help employ

Search for a way up
Changed to a new life
Up into heaven
And a way from hell’s strive

Love’s Great Victory

Freedom looked
Upon her cell
Shackled from the wall

An old man cooked
His Smokey hell
Then gave the guards a call

They served to the inmates
Freedom, Justice, Peace
Just enough to let them starve
Given piece by piece

Then love broke in
And smote them down
To save the prisoners three

With love’s grand win
Gave each a crown
And set the prisoners free

Flowers falling
Cascading down
Making a smile

Like stars in your eyes

And when you’re not here
I think just of you
And our time together
You know that it’s true

No Word

No word was given today
But here I sit and write
In a darkened room
Filled with gloom
Where nothing feels quite right

No word was given today
No key for me to start
As darkness creeps
And darkness keeps
Me far from a meaningful part

No word was given today
And my eyes are growing dim
My mind is gone
Till come new dawn
For now my chances are slim

Did not even compete
But the orphaned boys and girls
Who were cared for

The Wager

The two men would wager
A dollar at most
Over the heart of girl

The old sergeant Major
And Jimmy the Coast
Looked dashing but each was a curl

The evening brought them
To a very fine inn
A party was going
With plenty within

Lovely ladies
All dressed to the tens
But one was more beautiful
And so it begins

The two men bet
A dollar oh for
Then each man took
His place on the floor

Sargent Major was quick
To offer her dance
And a drink if she’d like with a wink

But Jimmy was slick
And took his chance
When the Sergent went off for her drink

And they danced for awhile
While making small talk
Flirting a bit as well

Her charm and her smile
When they went for that walk
Captured Jimmy and he fell

Then off she went
To power her nose
And the sergeant Major meet her
Bearing a rose

She smiled most kindly
And the sergeant so dear
And he smiled back
He felt in the clear

And when she got back
They talked for a while
Drinking and dancing
She did with such style

Her smile so elegant
Her eyes were so bright
That the poor Sergeant felt
This lady was right

And head over heels
In love he fell
Feeling that all
Was going quite well

And as the evening ended
Both men proposed
And the fine lady looked
And got quite composed

And the other girls circled
Around to see
Two men now
On bended knee

And one of them handed
The lady some cash
Only for quarters
No need to be brash

And off they went
The men were astir
They had been had
By her

Friends to the End

Friendship lasts
And knows no bounds
For all the good it has done

With friendships past
And future found
A long woven tapestry is spun

That gives meaning to life
And warmth to the soul
And help when times are tough

Relieving strife
In many a role
Making life less rough

And the joy it brings
On happy days
That we wish would never end

And the love that sings
In many strange ways
For all the togethers we spend

And when our days are near
The very end
And our light has grown quite dim

May those who are dear
Come to spend
And sing a joyous hymn

On how our lives would tether
To make sure each of us survives
In delight

For the times we spent together
That made our lives
Feel so light

To the meow masters love
Is never a game

The friendship he offers
Is never confined
He cares for his kitties
And always is kind

His kitties with care
All through the night and day

And when any is gone
He sends her a prayer
To make sure that she is OK

Kindness sits beside me
Kisses sweet and hugs divine
Her love caresses and binds me

My loving wife
She is so fair

Softness, tender, loving, sweet
I long to be beside her
Sitting, playing, doing anything
Is all that I prefer

Trapped

Trapped in a room
Without any walls
And no one around
To hear my calls

No heavy ceiling
But it still holds me in
Just a dirty old floor
And a dry bottle of gin

But here I am stuck
Trapped in this room
I can see out fine
But no windows entomb

Sitting here in
This place all alone
Once it was grand
And I sat on a throne

But they have all left me
And the throne’s gone now too
Nothing is left
And my days are too few

But who will mourn me
When I am not here
Will anyone notice
Not likely, I fear

For life is a journey
For others, I guess
While I sit here trapped
In a room that’s a mess

Used Food

Boxes full of used food
I sell them all day long
Going house to house
I ring the bell, “ding dong”

An apple for Montgomery
In only has a bite
Left overs for Susie Gee
We got them fresh last night

Boris likes the donut holes
If the cops don’t eat them all
And cheese left over from the milk
We go last fall

I like to sell the left overs
Used food for one and all
“Ding ding” goes your old door bell
Or if you like I’ll call

The Happy Bird

Silly little bird
You’re really quite absurd
Singing high up in that tree

The rain’s pouring down
But you haven’t got a frown
You seem so happy and free

The clouds are grey
But you’re OK
Singing all day long

So happy and free
I wish it was me
Feeling like nothing could ever go wrong

Silly little bird
You’re not that absurd
You seem to have things just right

No matter the day
You find a way
To make things happy and light

One

One is alone
Who needs a mate
One soul yearns
For another one to date

Alone in the night
Alone in the day
Sad desperation
But not to stay

For one meets another
And soon becomes two
Helping one another
To see each other through

The hard time, the rough times
The good times too
Helping one another
Is what they do

And when the day is done
With all they have won
The look to one another
And think of the fun

But here is sit
In this darkened room
With the sound of falling rain

And you out there
So far away
In makes my heart feel pain

Come home soon dear.

Compassion

So much compassion
Seems to be gone
In this world we live

Each person’s ration
Ignoring the wrong
Seeking to take, not give

How much better
A place this would be
If only compassion would rule

Ignoring the letter
But holding the spirit
And not using law as a tool

Look all around
And see those in need
And seek to serve others than you

And see what you found
Selfless joy indeed
Becoming one of a greater few

Salvation for the Sinner

Motivated for right
Motivated for wrong
Motivated to write
And sing this song

So many things that I
Have done so wrong
Wishing to do right
To go along

The path to heaven
The path to hell
We try to do good
But do so well

The things that I want
And the things that I do
Don’t always match
We know that it’s true

So help me along
This rocky road
This burden of wrong
I need to unload

Salvation seems
The thing that I need
I look up to God
I beg and I plead

He shows me the way
With mercy and grace
He takes me to
His sacred place

And I am finally safe

Sorites Paradox

Sorites paradox is attributed to the ancient Green philosopher Eubulides of Miletus. The paradox goes as follows: consider a heap of sand from which grains are individually removed. One might construct the argument, using premises, as follows:
1. 1,000,000 grains of sand is a heap of sand (Premise 1)
2. A heap of sand minus one grain is still a heap. (Premise 2)

Repeated applications of Premise 2 (each time starting with one less grain), eventually forces one to accept the conclusion that a heap may be composed of just one grain of sand (and consequently, if one grain of sand is still a heap, then removing that one grain of sand to leave no grains at all still leaves a heap of sand, and indeed a negative number of grains also form a heap).

The problem with this apparent paradox is in the definitions themselves: One assumes that 1,000,000 grains of sand is a heap of sand, however, if 1,000,000 grains of sand is spread over a large area so that it is only one grain of sand deep, it can hardly be considered a heap of any kind.

If we look at the definition of heap, we find it says: A collection of things thrown one on another.
Given this, we see that our premises are wrong and should read:
1. 1,000,000 grains of sand may be a heap of sand (Premise 1)
2. A heap of sand minus one grain may be still a heap. (Premise 2)

Again, using the proper definition of heap in this construct we see that repeated applications of premise 2 allows us to have a heap to a minimum of 2 grains of sand, provided that one grain is stacked on top of the other grain. At the point where no grain is stacked upon another grain, the sand stops being a heap. Additionally, any sand that is not stacked upon one another is no longer part of the heap. Further, by taking grains away so that we end up in multiple stacks creates multiple heaps, not a single heap created from the original.

Why this is important: How we define things is critical of how we look at and interpret things. With the wrong definitions we can make incorrect assumptions which lead to bad decisions.

Legendary

The boys and the job
Working really hard
Doing things right
Because they’re legendary!
Legendary!

People watching sob
And many of them jarred
Their creation is so tight
Because it’s legendary!
Legendary!

And camera crews come
To see what they’ve done
And they all stand in awe
Because it’s legendary!
Legendary!

To the beating of the drum
They start having lots of fun
And the crowds start to draw
Because they’re legendary!
Legendary!

Surreal days

Surreal days
Like visions gone astray
New life new beginning
What comes this brand new day

And odd kind of strangeness surrounds me
With mystery to seduce and keep me in
These darkened rooms won’t let me free
Playing never to win

Stars spin ahead
Those glowing points of light
Drawing pictures in the air
Of things that delight

But vapor is all they are
There’s nothing here for me
Though temping and so seemingly divine
I know they cannot be

So I sit in this room
Of strange times to come
I hear them in the distance
Like the sound of the beating drum

Seeking souls of destiny

Now together they must stay

Have passed them by
And still their locked in love

Growing closer

Stood on the stage
Casting illusions for all

But the greatest illusion
The audience didn’t see
For it had started for him that fall

In political campaigns
Where promises were made
This illusionist made a great pledge

And with smoke and mirrors
Of the devious kind
He kept is opponents on edge

And when bills were made
The lobbyist paid
And a greater killing was had

And when the poor public heard
They thought it quite absurd
And believed his opponents were mad

And the illusionist live
The live of a king
Making bills and doing old fashion card tricks

For his great public audience
Would believe anything
For by his magic he held them transfixed

Food for My Cravings

Your body is like
Food to my soul
Ecstasy unleashed
My only goal

Food to my mouth
As I kiss your sweet
Food to my cravings
From your head to your feet

Feed me and fill me
Till I am far over done
Give me your life
And together we run

Under the covers
And back again
I only hope
It never will end

Turn off the sun so we can start once again.

And have it she would

Hot from the oven
With ice cream on the side
It tasted so good
No smile could she hide

She was now in paradise
