Sin

Late again
Another count against me
Idle thoughts
That lead me astray
Another point again.
How can I live
With these sins on my heart
These and so many more
I need the forgiveness that comes from Him
So that I can try
Once more

Ben

Young and dedicated,
To serve the lord,
What a wonderful thing to see.
Faithful to you,
My loving Lord,
I pray he’ll always be.

Getting Married

Getting married
I heard you say
I hope you are well prepared.
With screaming children
And overcooked food
I know many who’d be scared!

And when you wife
Is ugly and old
Will your love
Be quite as bold

If it will
Then I wish you well
For there’s no better life
That I can tell.

Searching for Cover

The warden is out
Walking the ground
If anyone is out
They get shouted down

And all I want to do is sleep…

One Bad Day…

Anxiety
Nerves on edge
Snapping and biting
And if I say anything
The target is me….

Late One Night

Sitting in the kitchen
Late at night
Waiting for water to boil
Children come in
With all forms of excuse
Children who should be in bed

Our Obsession with Sex

Everywhere you look
It’s advertised
The pert little mouth
And glowing eyes

Shirts hiked up
And pants slung low
She looks like she’s ready
To give you a go

She’s in ads on TV
And magazines too
Blissmas for Christmas
And Two in the Stew

And there she goes
As she walks down the street
Flirting with everyone
Her eyes seem to meet

What is this obsession
That everyone craves
That hunts us, then haunts us
And finally enslaves

With loose moral values
And no sense of love
A seeking of self
And loosing thereof

A Day at the Bureaucracy

Morning
Appointment.
Arrived
Early.
Confusion;
Misinformation.
Waiting….
Forgotten.
Found!
But,
Misplaced….
Lost,
Again….
Still
Waiting….
And
Waiting….
And
Waiting.
Lights,
Go….
Out.
They,
Go….
Home.
Still
Waiting….
In
Darkness.

Of Wisdom and Pride

Wisdom said to Pride,
Let’s go on a date,
With coffee and cake,
And we’ll talk till it’s late.

No, not today,
Pride said to her friend,
My favorite show’s on tonight,
And it’s quite near the end.

The next day wisdom came over,
To take Pride to the fair,
But Pride was too busy,
Washing her beautiful hair.

And so it went on,
Day after day,
Wisdom would ask Pride out,
And Pride said, “No, not today.”

Until finally Pride found,
She was left all alone,
Without Wisdom’s good company,
Her fate was self-sown.

William

William the runner would run with great haste
Though everyone thought that it was a great waste
For dispite his great speed
There seemed little need
To catch his own tail which he chased
