An Adventure In The Land Of Dragons

In the land of dragons, far away
Live a maid of the healing way

She traveled the lands healing the sick
Carrying with her a walking stick

News came to her of a very sick land
And knew her powers would be in demand

So she traveled the path to this poor sick place
To help the people of Tolase

Along the way she made a friend
The scarlet dragon that would always defend

And keep her safe from monsters and men
Hunt for her food light the cooking fire and then

The lovely maid would fix them food
And whatever she cooked, it was always so good

They traveled to together down the trail
For these people they could not fail

To heal the sick and make them well
And then into a trap they fell

A bandit lord had seen them from way far off
And laid a trap with a net and a water trough

That doused the dragons fire out
Then in to the net with a shout

And the maid and the dragon were captive for gold
And to the lands a ransom was told

And it caught the ears of a poorish man
An artist who was in little demand

But a maid and a dragon who would heal the sick
He thought for a while then figured a trick

He gathered his stuff upon his horse
And road to the bandit to fix the source

The way was rugged with mountains high
Forests and peaks that touched the sky

Alone he traveled as poor artists do
To save a maid with eyes of blue

And a dragon of scarlet red as flame
And change his life so it would not be the same

Along the way he found a cliff so high
And from it the bandit lord’s castle he could spy

So he laid out a rug
And tied it snug

Let the other end down
And in the center of the rug he placed a crown

The rode off to the bandits his gear in tow
To show his honors and let the world know

Of the bandit lords glory, power and fame
And the bandit lord smiled as the poor artist came

Let me paint you a picture to show your might
And the band lord smiled with pure delight

So the artist took him to the rug on the cliff
The wind was light and not to stiff

He carefully tied his horse to the rope
Then handed the crown to fill the bandit lord with hope

Then took out a brush and threw at the horse
Who took off running away of course

And away went the rug and down went the lord
Off the cliff he fell, he soared

Onto his head, the bandit lord was dead
The men who came with, all quickly fled

And the poor artist went into the keep
Into the dungeons dark and deep

And freed the maid and he dragon friend
But let me tell you this is not the end

The gathered several horses and bags of gold
And traveled to Tolase, or so I am told

The three of them became the friends of the best
And they wondered together doing many a quest

And as they did the artist professed
His love for the maid, and she also confessed

For as they grew each of them knew
That their love for each other was pure and true

So the scarlet dragon married them both
Deep in a forest of old growth

And they wonder this day, hand in hand
Going wherever they are in demand
