Dream Land

Draining away
The last rays of light
From sleepy eyes
To dreamland might

Bring her wonders
A dragon in flight
And knight in armor
Shining so bright

To fight for their honor
And defend what is good
She is the princess
And does as she should

Giving them courage
And reason to be
The knight and the hero
For all to see

The sweeping away
Into sweet romance
Dinner and music
And a courtly dance

And late in the night
When her dream turns quite steamy
She sleeps with a smile
Happy and dreamy

Puffy Dreams

Muddy blots
And thistle combs
Fiddle downs
For Kallie Holmes

Turtles run
By bunny bed
Soft and green
With pillows red

And purple trees
With dancing bats
Who prance upon
Pink flying cats

They land upon
A candy lane
Where lollipops
Are not quite sane

They read old books
And talk about
Politicks
And sometimes shout

Obscenities
That aren’t too nice
And drink campaign
With lots of ice

They smoke cigars
These lollipops
And pass out toys
To little tots

And if the pipe
Does puffy dreams
Then life’s not always
As it seems

For if you wonder
In your dreams
You’ll end up counting
Lima beans

Dream Tears

Tears from dreams
Unfulfilled
Falling against a midnight sky

Making pools and streams
That water our lives
Where deep in the darkness lie

Our hidden fears
Wants and needs
That often go unfulfilled

Then turn to hope
With the morning sun
And gives us something to build.
