The Disagreement
It was a disagreement
Of the most unusual kind
The kind of disagreement
That is hard to find
But they fought over the issue
As if their life depends
Oh how many pennies
The old man spends
I say its fifty
Well I say it’s not
And on it went
On that spot
And no one seemed
To think it wise
To ask the old man
Who might advise
And tell them the number
Of pennies he had spent
For he had counted them all
As he went
And knew every penny
And knew every place
And knew every item
And knew every space
But the two continued
On their own
Until the old man
Calmly had shown
Them the records
He carefully kept
He handed it to them
Then off he crept
Off to bed, hoping for some peace and quiet.
