October

October is filled
With brown falling leaves
And pumpkins orange in the patch

And the cool autumn wind
Dry rubber boots
And cookies made by the batch

Pumpkins that grinned
Shirts with long sleeves
And taking out warm winter coats

Darkness distilled
An owl that hoots
Children shoving candy down their throats
