The Conviction and Redemption of Jezebel Jinkins

It started as
A normal day
The sun was bright
And wanted to play

On bodies of water
Like at the beach
Where lived an otter
Who liked to teach

She taught her class
So many things
How fish have fins
And birds have wings

But one little student
Didn’t like to learn
Jezebel Jinkins
The little tern

She thought about all
The things she could wear
Pretty new outfits
And perhaps a spare

Nice shiny jeweler
That would sparkle and shine
If Jezebel wore them
She thought she’d look fine

So during lunch
She went to the store
And looked at those things
Yeah, school was a bore

But these shiny new things
All caught her eyes
Maybe she could take them
So she started to devise

A plan to get them
With no money down
A plan to take them
And that nice pretty crown

A steal is a deal
She started to feel
If nobody noticed
She liked the appeal

The she could wear
This new pretty stuff
How much to take
Would this be enough

So she grab her bag
And stuffed it full
And went for the door
Till she noticed a pull

And there was the manager
Not looking so nice
He had a frown
His look was like ice

So she started to run
Away from the place
Around the corner
Till whom should she face

But a tall policeman
Who was quick to note
That Jezebel and stolen
A brand new coat

And when as he started to look
The manager showed up
A smile on his face
And asked “what’s up?”

And they talked for a while
With Jezebel in cuffs
Her dreams all dashed
Of wearing new stuffs

And off to the station
She went for the day
Her parents not happy
With bail to pay

And two days passed
Till her court date came due
And she was convicted
Of her crimes through and through

And her conviction taught her
Never to steal
And her suffering ego
Would eventually heal

And many years later
She taught her own class
Teaching them to be good
With a story to surpass

Anything she would want them to learn on their own.
