City of Despair
Grey clouds hand over the city.
Buildings go up to be lost in the haze.
A light drizzle starts.
The homeless people huddle closer to the buildings sheltering themselves with their signs and old newspapers.
One woman softly cries to herself while rocking back and forth…. Another one of the forgotten.
A jet flies high overhead.
The sounds of cars and busses fill the air as they make their way down the soggy streets.
The sky darkens as the street lights come on, offering what little hope they have on the dim landscape around them.
People hurry home, at least those that have a home; the rest huddle together where they can for warmth and security.
Gray rains falls on the cold concrete sidewalks.
