Drinking With God

The day broke gray
Pale with rain
The kind of day
Where you sit in disdain

So many things
I had to do
But with weather like this
I couldn't I knew

Then God showed up
With beer and wineThough things looked bad
I knew they'd be fine

We talked and drank
From dusk till dawn
The good and the bad
Till it all was gone

Then we headed to sleep
And dreamed through the night
Of happy times that felt so good
In places that felt just right

Then in the morn
That was really about noon
I fixed us a meal
And we watched Blue Lagoon

We chatted some more
Till God had to go
Though he'd always come back
When I needed him, I know

And the new day beamed gold
With skies light and blue
The air smelling fresh
Like life made anew
