Layoff Day

Sometimes I wonder....
Sometimes I feel....
Emotions unfold
My life they unpeel

Unwound like a spool
Leaving me bare
I seem to fit
Almost nowhere

A shattered plate
A shattered bowl
What can I find
To make me feel whole

I am sad
I am scared
I am lonely
I am bared

Opened and emptied
Then filled with grey waters
That fall from the sky
Like nothing now matters

A grey stormy day
A grey stormy life
Makes my heart ache
And long for my wife
