Old Men
Flickering lights
On lonely nights
In a warehouse dank and cold
All life wanes
With hunger pains
In a life that’s grown too old
Old men reach
And old men preach
At night on streets they sleep
With pleading eyes
And heavy sighs
In allies they go and weep
Some are not right
Up in the head
Others are wishing
That they were dead
Men aren’t so useful
When their years have grown long
A life upside down
When things have gone wrong
So now they sit
Perhaps begging a bit
For a few coins here or there
And when they’re gone
And it shouldn’t be long
No one will miss them or care
On lonely nights
In a warehouse dank and cold
All life wanes
With hunger pains
In a life that’s grown too old
Old men reach
And old men preach
At night on streets they sleep
With pleading eyes
And heavy sighs
In allies they go and weep
Some are not right
Up in the head
Others are wishing
That they were dead
Men aren’t so useful
When their years have grown long
A life upside down
When things have gone wrong
So now they sit
Perhaps begging a bit
For a few coins here or there
And when they’re gone
And it shouldn’t be long
No one will miss them or care
