The Shattered House
A shattered house
Left long alone
Turned inside out
And now unknown
Garbage strewn
Throughout the yard
Broken pains
Walls now scared
What dreams it held
When it first was new
And now it stands
A disheveled view
How long ago
Were happy songs
Those birthday cheers
Now seem long gone
And now this house
Though soon to go
Holds memories
That few will know
Will memories
Of those who played
In this old worn house
Also fade?
I hope not….
Left long alone
Turned inside out
And now unknown
Garbage strewn
Throughout the yard
Broken pains
Walls now scared
What dreams it held
When it first was new
And now it stands
A disheveled view
How long ago
Were happy songs
Those birthday cheers
Now seem long gone
And now this house
Though soon to go
Holds memories
That few will know
Will memories
Of those who played
In this old worn house
Also fade?
I hope not….
