Detritus and debris
Covered the ground
Up to the volcano’s rim

Deep in the crater
The red soup did boil
With a light that was somewhat dim

How many people
Had been thrown to their deaths
So many years ago

To this raging goddess
That smokes and kills
And brought them so much woe
